Hard Talk on the BBC

31 Jul

The Mohs Hardness Scale starting with talc at 1 being the softest and ending with diamond at 10 hardest, is universally used around the world as a way of distinguishing minerals. Simply put – the higher the number, the harder the mineral.

50th Wedding Anniversary 1980 West, Texas

30 Jul

I realized just a few years ago that there were those in my extended family that really didn’t want me to go to my maternal grandparents 50th Wedding Anniversy. They especially didn’t want me in this photo. But I had been drinking beer. So I said to myself and outloud “Nonsense I’m part of the family.” And I went up to get into the picture. That’s me in the white shirt on the far side at the top next to the plastic beer cup. They had to split the family in two with my grandparents youngest child, Bobby, still unmarried at the time in the light brown suit in the middle. Many of those that were most against me were on the far side.

Johnny and Hazel Kajs or the God I know don’t need any cash.

Years later when I came to visit them one hot summer day to see if I could maybe hang around to help them out on the farm. They sent me out with a pair of pliers to tighten up the barbed wire fence around their house. There is also a photograph of my brother Artemis and my sister Psyche hoeing their fields for them as children. I think all of our cousins got the same treatment. They had a grip so tight on that land that was passed down to them from our grandparents you would not believe, but what do you expect from wild dogs. Dogs are territorial when they get into packs, and especially when they are behind fences. Everybody knows that.

They were all bad !

That’s a message I telepathicathy received from my grandmother Bertha about her children before she passed away.

One of the worst as far as I’m concerned was Uncle Johnny and his wife Aunt Hazel. Aunt Hazel was supposed to be my godmother but I prefer my fairy godmother Aunt Esther who married Uncle Edward.

Aunt Hazel transitioned her children to women via dogs. I think all of the dogs were run over by farm equipment at an early age. That pretty much ended the development of those women on the farm rightthere.

I remember when I was about 14 the last gift I received from my godmother Aunt Hazel was this Plug a Jug Game.
